Yesterday afternoon we arrived in Bangkok (flying from Krabi). We had to wait for more than an hour to get our pick up from the airport to the hotel since there were riots in the city. The hotel has an appealing name "Convenient" (probably because it is only 10-15 minutes drive from the airport). In fact it was in the middle of nowhere. We decided to 'go exsotic' and for a change had Pizza Hut for dinner (the restaurants in the neighbourhood had no English menu).
We had an early pick up to the airport at 04:30 AM today (to fly to Sydney). In the Bangkok airport we realised that we have to get out of there as soon as possible by any land transport. All flights for today are being cancelled due to riots/strikes! Quite some travellers were sleeping on the floor at the airport hall; strange-looking Thai people in yeloow jackets and with masks on their face were walking around... In the end we took a taxi to the train station and bought train tickets to Batterworth (Malaysia). So change of plans! Now we have to travel for more than 20 hours by train, then fly to Singapore and only then fly to Sydney.
